Velotric T1 ST Plus vs Velotric Tempo

Links on this page go to brands' own pages as sources.

For stairs, first:

  • Velotric T1 ST Plus: Under our 50 lb screen for one flight. For two or more flights it's a close call, within 10% of our 40 lb screen: the chat shows it only as conditional until the weighed equipment is confirmed. Recorded weight, not a confirmed ready-to-carry weight (equipment on the scale or the tested build isn't fully stated).
  • Velotric Tempo: Under our 50 lb screen for one flight. For two or more flights it's a close call, within 10% of our 40 lb screen: the chat shows it only as conditional until the weighed equipment is confirmed. Recorded weight, not a confirmed ready-to-carry weight (equipment on the scale or the tested build isn't fully stated).

Before you choose for stairs, check: can the battery come off; was the weight measured on the frame and equipment you'd buy; what you can comfortably lift, every day; and the turns and landing space on your stairs. The chat checks your carrying limit; it doesn't yet ask about battery removal, the configuration or stair clearance.

Choose the T1 ST Plus if

  • It costs $50 less on the brand site (prices checked 2026-11-05)
  • Not in our data yet: what the weight limit includes.

Choose the Tempo if

  • Has a throttle (helps hill starts)
  • Not in our data yet: what the weight limit includes.

Neither, if

  • Your route has steep (10%+) climbs: both are below our steep-hill screen for their motor type (hub 75 Nm, mid-drive 65 Nm, advertised). Find one for my hills

Why we compare these two

Velotric advertises both among the lightest commuters in our catalog, weighed without fenders, kickstand and pedals. The Tempo is the newer model; the T1 ST Plus is older and still sold. Reviewers who weighed them with the battery found both heavier than advertised. The weight rows below show by how much, and why that changes our stairs advice. See the full lighter commuter e-bikes to consider for stairs guide.

Returns, if you ride it and change your mind

Velotric T1 ST Plus:

If you ride it and send it back: 14 days from delivery. Stated restocking charge $200 if unused; prepaid label after approval. Ridden: Velotric's page is unclear about returning a ridden bike, so don't count on it. Velotric may also deduct delivery signature, return shipping and insurance, and doesn't publish how much. Refusing delivery costs $200. Unclear in the policy: Policy lists a 22% fee for used bikes but also lists 'used products' as non-returnable. Seller's return policy (read 2026-10-31).
